ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
This Acceptable Use Policy specifies the actions prohibited by ion IT Ltd to users of our Network. Users may be defined as "customer or anyone who uses or accesses our Network or Internet services". Ion IT Ltd reserves the right to modify this Policy at any time, effective upon posting of the modified Policy to our website.
The ion IT Ltd network may be used only for lawful purposes. Transmission, distribution or storage of any material in violation of any applicable law or regulation is prohibited. This includes, without limitation, material protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret or intellectual property right used without proper authorisation, and material that is obscene, defamatory, constitutes an illegal threat, or violates export control laws.
The Services may not be used to cause annoyance, inconvenience, or needless anxiety.
The Services may not be used other than in conformance with the Acceptable Use Policies of any connected networks and the Internet Standards.
A Name may not be used in such way as to infringe the rights of any person, whether in statute or common law, in a corresponding trademark or name.
Specifically, but without limitation, the transmission of computer viruses or pornography; forgery of addresses or other such data in IP packets; unauthorised access to the network management equipment of ion IT Ltd or other Internet providers or their customers; mail bombing; mass mailing of unsolicited advertising material; and the transmission of live video or live audio or the use of IP multicast without authorisation from ion IT Ltd are all unacceptable practices.
We consider that any application that overloads our Network by whatever means will be considered as making a profligate use of the Network and as such is NOT allowed. This also includes but is not limited to, running applications or services that are likely to be the subject of frequent DoS attacks.
THE NETWORK
SYSTEM AND NETWORK SECURITY
2.1) Violations of system or network security are prohibited, and may result in criminal and civil liability. ion IT Ltd will investigate incidents involving such violations and will involve and will co-operate with law enforcement if a criminal violation is suspected.
2.2) Examples of system or network security violations include, without limitation, the following:
a) Unauthorised access to or use of data, systems or networks, including any attempt to probe, scan or test the vulnerability of a system or network or to breach security or authentication measures without express authorisation of the owner of the system or network;
b) Unauthorised monitoring of data or traffic on any network or system without express authorisation of the owner of the system or network;
c) Interference with service to any user, host or network including, without limitation, mailbombing, flooding, deliberate attempts to overload a system and broadcast attacks;
d) Forging of any TCP-IP packet header or any part of the header information in an email or a newsgroup posting.
2.3) If approached with complaints relating to any of the above violations, ion IT Ltd will co-operate and assist the Police and law enforcing bodies with their investigations in order to bring such mis-use and violations to an end.
EMAIL
3.1) It is explicitly prohibited to send unsolicited bulk mail messages ("junk mail" or "spam") of any kind (commercial advertising, political tracts, announcements) etc.
3.2) Users may not forward or propagate neither chain letters nor malicious e-mail.
3.3) A user may not solicit mail for any other address other than that of the user, except with full consent of the owner of the referred address.
3.4) Complaints regarding Illegal Use or System or Network Security issues, Email abuse, USENET abuse or Spamming should be sent via our query form, located here.
INDIRECT OR ATTEMPTED VIOLATIONS OF THIS POLICY, AND ACTUAL OR ATTEMPTED VIOLATIONS BY A THIRD PARTY ON BEHALF OF AN ion IT Ltd CUSTOMER OR A CUSTOMERS END USER, SHALL BE CONSIDERED VIOLATIONS OF THIS POLICY BY SUCH CUSTOMER OR END USER.
